Two weddings in two days....

Card #1 is for two lifeguards getting married.

Card #2 for friends who got married in Hawaii and are having a party to celebrate their wedding.

Kept them the same. I think it will be fun to produce and sell these at my esty shop

Mom told me blue, pink and purple was her favorite color.

Yess!!!!!

Took me a whole year to update this blog and here it is!

This year's mother's day cards I made for my mom and mother in law.

I kept them the same this year, just changed the wording according to the person.

Since then, I have had another beautiful child Juliana who is 8 months old right now.

That is who is pictured/drawn with my son Hunter (2-1/2).

Here are the latest cards I made:

The first one was for my mom.
Hunter's new/old favorite thing to do: Go on the swing outside the house.
He used to love it at one point, then was scared of it, now all of a sudden, its all he wants to do!

("Vovo" means Grandma in portuguese.)

The second one is for my mother in law.
She has been helping me paint the walls of our living/dining area. Of course, Hunter didn't really help out....but I'm sure if he had the chance, he would have had lots of fun getting paint everywhere except for the walls!

("Memere" means grandma in french.)

Both cards done in ink and color pencil on paper.

My latest art project. A present for my friend Aimee. She is having her second little girl and her room theme was butterflies.
So I came up with the fairy idea for a fun whimsical drawing to go in a girls room.
She actually looks like Aimee's older daughter!

Its been a while since I've posted anything. Its been a busy couple of months!
Since then I have created a couple of birthday cards and father's day cards.

My friends Laura's birthday card
my inspiration: she loves pijamas!

My sister-in-law Bia
inspiration: she loves to make clothes
and future fashion designer!

My husbands dad day card (his first I might add)
inspiration: Hunter and the ocean.

My dad's dad day card
inspiration: loves to bike ride and take pictures (of everything)
side note: everytime I draw my dad, he always has an afro and giant glasses which is inspired
by old pictures of him when he was in his 20's. I can't seem to draw him any other way.
Oh and lets not forget those short shorts and the high socks that totally ROCK! lets say no more!

My mom loves to read my son Hunter (her first grandchild) books.
This was the inspiration for this card

My mother in law loves to knit things for Hunter since he is also her first grandchild
Thus the inspiration for this card

Tropical Picture Frame

This frame was given to me by my mother in law.
She bought it unfinished and wanted me to paint something on it so she could put a picture of Hunter for her house.
This is what I came up with.
Done in acrylic paint.
I scanned this frame and tried to edit the color in photoshop to match the actual art.
Its not as bright as the original. But better than the original scan.

This was inspired by my son Hunter.

Below are the cards I came up with:

The first one is for my Grandma Raquel. She is turning 80!

The third is for my cousin Silvia
She is going to school to learn how to make movies.

Shoots super-muffins with his super-dooper muffin pistol,
Smels like blueberries and ultimately known for his indestructible supper muffin padded protection

Weaknesses are slimfast, plastic jump-ropes and spinach

His loyal sidekick is ButterBoy who's slippery butter power helps SMT's fight to save the world one buttered muffin at a time.
Butterboy's main weaknesses are microwaves and corn on the cob.

SMT's arch enemies are Granola Gal and Veggie Juicer Geezer

Melissa's baby's room has an underwater theme.
Due to her not knowing the sex of the baby,
I decided a sea turtle would be good for either a boy or a girl.
I love sea turtles! The little smiling fishies were added for extra detail.

Once, again....I choose to do a Halloween theme.
I included my original black and white images before and after I colored the background black.
I felt adding the black as the main background color, would really punch out the characters.
The initial drawing was done in pen & ink....then, took it into photoshop, and added color to it.

I was getting sick of my original profile picture because I felt it didn't represent my drawing style.
I wanted to do a cartoon portrait of myself to represent my crasy personality.
I laugh everytime I look at this! I also made it my profile image on my myspace page.

For this Illo friday theme, the first thing that came to mind was "tennis-match."
Most of my submissions have been in pen & ink.
I wanted to try a new technique and brush off the cobwebs of my adobe illustrator skills.
It was great to get back to using this program. Forgot how fun it was to use it.

After showing the illustration bellow, the school had some minor changes...
they wanted the little boy on the left to have a hat on instead of a kipah and a book instead of a teddy bear.
Pretty easy fix. Above is the final illustration including signature and copyright symbol.

This illustration was done for a private school who needed a drawing of 4 kids, 2 boys/2 girls of different age groups.
They wanted to keep it simple black and white.
They will be placing the drawing on a windshield sun protector (not sure what the name is), to be given to all the teachers at the school. Once the drawing is placed on the windshield thing, I should receive one for myself. I'll definitelly take a picture and post it here.

This weeks Illustration Friday topic was very broad.
I had done a sketch a while back of two clowns playing underwater and thought it was perfect for this week's topic.
I re-drew it, inked it and colored it with prisma colored pencils.
I know most people don't like clowns....but I love them... and love to draw them in fun situations!

Torrance-Redondo Area Party Poster

My boyfriend is an LA County Lifeguard
He asked me to design a poster for their upcoming area party.
He wanted the lifequard tower to look like a greek/roman ruin since there will be a toga bar-hop after the party.
And he wanted to also show a lifeguard hanging out at the beach.
I have to thank my friend Barbara, who helped me come up with the perfect lifeguard image. Thanks girl!

For this week's topic I decided to draw a brother and a sister.
The sister has stuck stickers all over her brother. On top of that she used her pink glue to stick a tiara on his hat and also glued his hand onto his jeans.
Oh but she didn't stop there! She also painted his nails and put makeup on him too! Oh no! She also spilled the soda!

This card took me a while to complete. I really wanted to get a good resemblance of my family and myself...but I don't think I'll ever get a job as a portrait artist! I had fun drawing us up the way i thought we should look like.

This one goes out to all the people celebrating Cinco de Mayo!
I guess you can interpret this image two ways...
You can either have a fat burro pinata, or a fat kid once they finish eating all that candy from the "burro gordo" (fat donkey).
I will probably go back in and color this one. It was fun to draw it....i want to see how it will look in color.
guess we will have to wait and see. But for now...just a fun little sketch.

This Illo was done my senior year in college (2002) and it was part of my senior art show. I was obsessed with Clowns at the time and did a whole series of clowns doing crasy activities. This one was the biggest one I did. It was done in illustration board and acrylics. Took me about a month to complete. The actual size of this piece is approx. 21" x 33". The biggest illustration piece i have ever done. It was fun to paint that big and I will definitelly do it again sometime.

My First Illustration Blog

This Ink wash drawing was done when I was attending CSULB. The title for this illustration is "Overcrowded Schools."
My inspiration for this drawing came about one day when I was trying to find a parking spot to get to class and I actually had to offer a stranger a ride to their car in order to find a spot so I would be late to class.
I was so frustrated that there were more students than parking spots that I came up with this idea of an overcrowded school.
